This is why we have to charge a $40 set-up fee per album:

There is roughly 40 minutes of work that goes into every CD. For EVERY CD that comes in, Liger Indie Music Distribution or its music distribution partners.

Enter the CD into the database.
Scan the album cover - cropping, balancing, and tweaking the colors to make it look as good as we can.
Resize the album cover into 4 different sizes for different uses on the website.
Convert the audio on the CD into .WAV files - just for the songs and lengths you chose.
Convert the .WAV files into MP3 files, then to store MP3 files.
Upload all the audio files to the server, and create linking files to them, and update the database to say which tracks have been successfully uploaded.
Listen to the CD (yes we actually listen to every album).
Edit the info you submitted to make sure it represents the CD as best as it can. We make sure that your bio has no spelling mistakes. That your one-sentence style description is the best eye-catching description. We ensure that represented in the best way it possibly can be.
Listen to the audio clips, and fix them if needed.
Make its web page and publish it to the site.
Put it up on our new arrivals gallery.
File it our warehouse and ensure it's always ready for shipping.

Liger Indie Music Distribution will keep an inventory of your CD's until they are all sold. We do not believe that ANY album is not worth keeping in our inventory. Most distributors would never hold on to CD's that rarely or never sell. However, Liger Indie Music Distribution was formed by the independent musicians for the independent musicians. We believe everyone deserves the chance. The $40 set up fee makes it possible for us to do that.

After the initial $40 there are no more charges. Everyone is treated equally, thus, no one can pay for advertising or placement.

THAT'S what the $40 is used for. We work hard to make it worth it to you.
