What
does LigerMusic.com do?
Liger
Indie Music Distribution is a non-exclusive indie music
distributor that distributes
musicians' songs to our online and offline music distribution partners which
get your music to an international network of legitimate
digital
music
services, including iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, Napster
and many others.
Liger
Indie Music Distribution is
not an online Digital Music Retailer. We
are not a record label. We are solely an independent
music distribution company.
We don't offer other services that traditional record
labels do, such as: supplying manufacturing,
tour support, bookings, etc.
What
kind of music does Liger Indie Music Distribution distribute?
Liger
Indie Music Distribution will distribute all genres
of music. However, Liger Indie Music Distribution
reserves the right to refuse music that violates copyright
law or contains offensive lyrics or graphics.
Liger
Indie Music Distribution will distribute releases containing
non-original compositions
(i.e. "cover songs"), as long as either the
artist or the label has acquired the proper digital and
physical licenses required by law.
Can
I choose to distribute my music only digitally or
only in CD form?
Yes,
although it would be in your best interest to sell your
music through both means, you can choose to sell your
music exclusively through CD or Digital
MP3 form. Just
let us know when you sign up what you'd like to do and
we'll make it happen.
Why
do I need a barcode?
All
major digital music outlets require your album to have
a UPC barcode.
A
barcode is necessary for our music distribution partners to sell your
music. The
barcode does not have to be on your CD cover, we simply
need it to give to our music distribution partners.
Can
I allow a record label to distribute my Liger Indie Music Distribution-distributed
CD?
Liger
Indie Music Distribution artist agreement is non-exclusive,
so you will always have freedom to sign a record label
contract
that provides distribution through outlets outside
of Liger Indie music distribution partners.
How
much is the music sold for?
On
average the cost is 60 cents per song downloaded,
$6.50 per full-album download and 1 cent per listen or
stream.
How
soon do I get paid after a song is downloaded?
Most
companies only report to us every 1 - 3 months. Some
companies report a full 3 months after the quarter is
done. As soon as we receive money from your
songs the money is added to your account immediately. Liger
Indie Music Distribution then pays its musicians on a
monthly basis.
Can
musicians and Labels view their accounts through Liger Indie Music Distribution?
musicians
and labels will not be able to view their payment history
at the current time. Liger Indie Music Distribution
is working to provide this service to its musicians and
Labels.
How
long does it take for the music to show up on the
music services once you deliver it to them?
Once
you've given us ALL the information that we need, and
we've received your CD your music will be sent to our
music distribution partners. Our music distribution partners will then encode your music into
many different formats for many different companies,
so this process can take from 4-6 weeks. In
addition, our music distribution partners need to verify all your songwriter
and publisher info is correct before they can send it
out into the world.
From
there it generally takes 4 weeks minimum to 5
months maximum (usually 2-3 months) before
your music is placed on our partner websites. Once
your music is sent to the companies it's out of our hands
and it's up to them to get it active in their service. All
of Liger Indie Music Distribution's music distribution
partners reserve the right to refuse to carry any particular
release, thus, we cannot
give you a 100% guarantee that your music will make it
on all of our music distribution partners sites. However, we will
push our music distribution partners to get your music added as soon as
possible.
How
will we know when our music is available on their
site?
Unfortunately,
most of our music distribution partners do not let us know when
your music is posted for sale! Thus, you will
need to visit online
music retailers on your own and
check if your music is
available.
Can
I select which of your music distribution partners I use?
No,
you are unable to do this. However, there is ONE
exception. If you have a direct-deal with one of
our music distribution partners, but want to use Liger Indie Music Distribution
distribute to the rest of our music distribution partners, we can do that. You
will simply have to let the company know that they'll
be receiving your album twice and they should ignore
the songs being delivered by Liger Indie Music Distribution.
If
I recorded a cover song can I use it?
You
simply need to contact the cover song's publisher and
notify them that you have recorded their cover song.
Can
I make any changes to my music after I've sent it
to you?
No,
you will not be able to make any changes. Just
like if you released an album at Sam Goody or Wal-Mart
you can not make changes once the album is in online
music retailers' inventory. If an album is
changed in any way, it must be re-released as a new
version.
Thus,
you
will
need
a new album with a new barcode, signed up as
a new release.
If I mail my CD can I choose which songs to sell?
No,
we are unable pull individual songs. We must use
your entire CD.
What if I have bonus tracks on my CD that are not listed on the CD artwork?
If
you want to sell a song, you must give us all
of its info including the name of the song,
the composer, the publisher, etc. For legal reasons,
we can't sell a "secret" song.
